What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a healing art which sole purpose is assisting individuals in gaining greater clarity in their mind, body, and life.
Chiropractic is a science, philosophy, and art. It is from these three that its effectiveness arises. Philosophy is what grounds the work and gives it its meaning. It allows us to choose what we will use as signposts for the science. The science of chiropractic is only as valuable as its philosophical basis yet it sets out to verify the very truth from which its philosophy stems. Finally chiropractic is an art, the form of which is distinct to each practioner. Just as every artist expresses themselves uniquely through their work so does each chiropractor through their various technique and approach. Each art form is unique and differs in expression as the practioners themselves.
Chiropractic is a health care discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
The focus of chiropractic care centers on restoring mental, emotional, and physical well-being to optimize human potential. This is achieved through the delivery of the chiropractic adjustment with the intent of clearing nervous system patterns and electro-magnetic fields of imbalances that are the result of traumas in all their varied forms. The role of chiropractic is one of restoring balance in the human body in order that the inherent-intelligence-within may function without interference.
There is a state that persists long before symptoms become manifest and disease occurs. It is in this state before signs and symptoms appear in the body that there is a lack of ease. This lack of ease or “DIS-ease” is the state of the body in which things are not functioning at their highest level. In this state a level of communication has been lost between the brain, spinal cord, and cellular tissues. It is this condition of DIS-ease that chiropractic facilitates to free up interference within the body and allow integration of the body-mind to ensue.
Subluxation is the term used to denote such interference and describe the state of the individual in which energetic flow is not at its optimal performance. When broken down to its meaning it means less-light-expression. Light being the quality of kinetic energy and a result of particles in motion. We can thus say that motion is life and what is set in motion stays in motion. Once vital life force energy is released the healing intelligence of the body is unleashed.
There is an inner intelligence within the body which coordinates, communicates, and heals all facets of the body. It is this inner intelligence that heals a cut, orchestrates the release of millions of hormones, sustains a beating heart, and restores cellular damage all in perfect harmony. This intelligence is with us from birth to death and it is this reason that we refer to it as Innate. Innate intelligence is what allows the body to be in balance and in a state of homeostasis with the external and internal environments.
