Vibrant Living in the New Year, Finding Your Rhythm
by Petra

11 years ago I received my first adjustment after a miserable riding accident. It changed my life. A year later my Thoroughbred, Jazz got his first adjustment … the rest is history … I quit my advertising job and went back to school to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. Little did I know what an exciting journey was ahead of me.

Today more than ever I am so in love with what I do. Chiropractic is not just a profession for me it’s a way of life, it’s a passion, it’s an expression of my creativity and my art. It never gets boring. It always challenges you – you see I am not just a Chiropractor, but I am also a faithful chiropractic client.

Chiropractic is not about fixing someone’s back or neck pain. It’s truly about shifting people's lives. I have experienced this myself first hand. Ironically, excruciating low back pain is why I first went to see my chiropractor, but little did I know how much it would shift my life once I started under care. It didn’t happen over night.  The pain I was experiencing was relieved quickly, BUT the deep dural tension that had built up over 30 years in my body, that was silently living inside of me, cutting off my life force and the potential to express myself to the fullest still remained.  This I am still working on even today.

Patterns in the body are ingrained, meaning that your brain, your body, your neurology has acclimated to a certain way of being, a certain posture, a certain functionality.  This is usually an adaptation to a stress encountered some time in life.  This is not functioning at your highest level.  It is merely surviving. Going through life and just barely getting by.  It is certainly not living full out.

At times it seems strange to continue getting adjusted when all your aches and pains are gone, but pay attention and you will be amazed after the first sight of stress the same patterns show up – oh…it’s just chronic….I just lifted something in a funny way….THAT IS DURAL TENSION, THAT IS THE PATTERN THAT STILL LIVES WITHIN YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU DO NOT FEEL IT. THAT IS LIVING WITH A SUBLUXATION = YOU ARE EXPRESSING LESS LIGHT.

It’s easy to be busy, to forget about ourselves and not take care of the body temple we live in. It’s easy to get out of the rhythm, to disconnect from body, mind, and spirit and to live stressed and ungrounded. But fortunately every year we take it upon ourselves to start off with good intentions and great visions. So live vibrant in the New Year, take care of your beautiful self, align your body, mind and spirit so you can express something that is bigger than yourself.

Happy New Year & we can’t wait to see all of you!

Movie Night Friday, January 20th at 6:30 pm
This month we will be hosting a movie night.  With so many selections of movies out there it becomes difficult at times to pick one that calls us to be something greater than we currently are.  This is true in all areas of our lives, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  When we are in a rough patch in our lives it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees.  Maybe it is our physical health or our current mental state that we are trying to overcome.  It is during these times that we rely on others, our social groups, to inspire us and encourage us to aspire more for ourselves.  The movie nights we will be hosting for the 2012 year are meant to do just that.

This months movie is Simply Raw - Reversing Diabetes In 30 Days.  This movie follows 6 people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes on a raw food retreat and gives hope to people who think that there is no cure for diabetes.

Understanding Symptomatology as it Relates to Functional Neurology
We will be offering bimonthly talks at the Café of Life on how your symptoms relate to what is going on in your nervous system.  These talks are offered every other Thursday starting at 6:15pm.  These introductory talks are 20-30 minutes long with time for questions at the end.  New clients are encouraged to attend as well as anyone who would like to find out more about how chiropractic can impact you and your loved ones on a deep healing level.  The talks for this month are Thursday, January 12th and 26th at 6:15 pm.

Train of Consciousness
Back by popular demand, the Café of Life lecture series returns for 2012.  Join Drs. Clay, Petra, and Jay on Tuesday, January 17th at 7:00 pm as we kick off our monthly lecture series on various topics on self growth and building self awareness.  Talks are both informational and experiential, and group participation is asked.  Come play full out with us; remove blocks, realize your goals and reach your maximum potential for yourself and your life.

New Music has its Benefits
This month we have a special offer for all of our clients.  We all know how much music is an important part of our lives.  It is a very important part of the Café experience as well.  That is why this month we are offering a drawing for one lucky individual for a free 12 visit package.  All you have to do to get entered is bring a song that you love and would love to add to our wonderful collection of music at the Café of Life.  Cd’s, Mp3’s and other digital formats are acceptable.
