Swimming with Wild Dolphins
By Petra Gill, DC
Being born and raised in Austria I grew up with the perception that six weeks paid vacation was the norm. When I moved to the US and had my first real job, I had a rude awakening when I was told that one-week was all I could take. Needless to say I didn't last long in the corporate world, not because I was lazy, but the concept of work hard and don't recharge just didn't make sense to me.
So, in order to fully recharge, stay inspired and reconnect with ones true essence, Clay and I took what seemed at first a relaxing week off to swim with wild Dolphins in the Bahamas. Little did we know that it would end up being the trip of a lifetime where we were both challenged to step up to the plate, open our hearts and trust in what this journey of life has to offer.
The trip was led by our friend and colleague Lou Corleto and consisted of daily workshops, breath work and mediation. We initially had the choice to opt out of that part, but curiosity and the desire to grow took over and we signed on. Each day was an adventure and watching ourselves and the other members of our "pod" break through our self built barriers to move closer to our full potential was the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. The icing on the cake was that each day we had the opportunity to swim with wild dolphins and sure enough they showed up and allowed us into their magical world.
